NOSA Commodores Challenge Race

All Commodores (or his/her representative) from SCYA affiliated clubs, with one crew member (another officer or club member).

 

The boat owner or his/her representative must be on board his/her boat for each race.

 

Boats: Harbor 20, provided by Newport Ocean Sailing Association
Location: Balboa Yacht Club (BYC), main dock near race tower
Race Course: Announced at skipper’s meeting
Schedule:
12:00 pm Boats to be in place at BYC main dock*
Boat owners/rep to register – at flag pole
Competitors to register – at flag pole
12:15 pm Skippers meeting – at flag pole
Drawing for boats and flights
12:30 pm Competitors meet with owners/rep at assigned boat.
12:45 pm
(approx.)		 Warning for start of first flight.
Warning for second flight will be approx. 15 minutes after last boat of Flight 1 finishes and docks.
  • The first teams, consisting of a Commodore or his representative, and crew member, will race in the first flight, which will last approximately 35 minutes.
  • The rest of the teams will race in the second flight.
  • The third and final flight is the top half of the first two flights, to determine the overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophy winners
  • Trophy presentation will take place at the flag pole following the final race.

 

*NOTE: Space at the BYC dock will be available starting at 9:45 am on the day of the event. If help is required for docking, the boat should contact the BYC Dockmaster on Channel 69, a few minutes before arriving.
