2012 14 Mile Bank Race

The race out to Laussen Knoll (also known as the 14-Mile Bank) is the final opportunity for NOSA racers to win the coveted Ocean Racing Series Trophy…which combines the points earned in the Newport to Ensenada Race, both days of the Argosy Regatta, and the 14-Mile Bank race. The skipper with the highest point total wins!

The race, which begins off Balboa Pier and rounds R-4 buoy before heading out to Laussen Knoll, is a Newport Beach favorite because it usually provides the racers with reaching and running legs between turning marks. The final turn at the 14-Mile Bank mark is where most boats hoist their spinnaker and begin the spectacular and colorful run to the finish line.
